Summative # 3: Overcoming a crushing obstacle.
Students will describe an obstacle in the life of someone close to them, that would make it “impossible” for them to accomplish a great goal. Students will then illustrate this situation in written form presenting the problem, the emotional impact on the human spirit and finally a solution through a scripted dialogue, poem, lyric, or illustration. Finally, students identify a survivor/hero who might inspire hope. After researching this survivor/hero students will contemplate advice he/she might give them. This can be in the form of excerpted language (analysis, monologue, lyrics, or a creative script of an exchange between the student and survivor/hero).
